Events
At the
end of July we held an end of term disco and had a good turnout of 40 children
who had a great time.
We also
had a lovely day out to Tilgate Park in August with 70 people.
Future events
4th October Mick and Eve are attending a fundraising line
dance evening.
24th October a childrens disco will be held.
Two Healthy eating projects from Whitehawk have been praised at a special event yesterday.
Whitehawk Primary School’s basketball and cooking sessions and a lunch club at the Robert Lodge flats in Whitehawk, were among 23 projects in East Brighton praised at Whitehawk’s Crew Club.
They were all funded through the East Brighton Healthy Living Centre’s Healthy Neighbourhood Fund.
Councillor Geoffrey Theobald said: “This is really what I call value for money. It’s remarkable how far relatively small sums of money can go when you harness the energies of groups who want to help themselves and others.”
Also speaking at yesterday’s event were speakers from Whitehawk Primary School and the East Brighton Substance Misuse Project. Afterwards, everyone was served a locally produced organic lunch.
This Sunday saw Mile Oak travel the short distance to Whitehawk, the boys were full of hope after their 2 opening wins of the season, with 2 clean sheets also. With Christian out, Skinner was in line to replace him; however he somehow dislocated both his shoulders the day before, which meant under 17’s Wedge-Bull would come in to replace him instead. Oak fielded Grimstone in goal, with the same back four from the previous 2 games, in Downs, Mills, Hall and Evans. With Stenning and Wedge-Bull the holding men in midfield, meaning the attacking threat would be down to Packham and Robbins on the wings, Pretlove through the middle and the big gay Seager upfront.

Greenwash - the unspeakable practise of using eco friendly notions to promote less than sound realities is fraudulent and must not be tolerated.
A group of ne'er do wells claim to be living the good life on Whitehawk Hill as a "commune." In the Argus on Wednesday 7th January they claimed to not be on benefits and to be living as a community.
Their "leader" however, is not what he claims. The mother of his children lives in a five bedroomed house and claims benefits. His girlfriend lives on benefits in a home also.
This so called leader has a criminal record for violence. Social services have advised the mother of his children to keep them away from Whitehawk hill because of his violence.
Last June he accepted a caution for common assault on a neighbouring allotmenteer.
He makes his money from <snip> vegetables from other peoples' plots (including the community food project) and selling them.<snip>.
Brighton and Hove City Council have every right to want rid of this man.
Eco warriors should speak out against such people using greenwash to further their own aims: freeloading on the back of tax payers.
They hold parties all night parties, they make a mess and have driven many decent people away from Whitehawk with their bullying tactics.
If the Argus journalist had asked around, he'd have soon established this to be fact.

In 2001, Tony Blair talked of narrowing the gap which separated some communities from the rest of society with a huge injection of cash to Britain’s poorest areas.
His vision came as east Brighton geared up for its first slice of New Deal for Communities (NDC) money.
With almost all of the £47 million spent and the eb4U project coming to an end next year, the former Prime Minister’s dream appears to remain just that.
A 300-page report commissioned by Brighton and Hove City Council and released to The Argus has, for the first time, evaluated the success of the Government’s programme.
It reveals the chasm between east Brighton and the rest of the city has grown despite the investment programme.
While praising some of the work carried out, the report, from consultants Oxford Consultants for Social Inclusion, reads: “On every measure with the exception of pension credit, the benefit data trends identify that the most deprived areas have not closed the gap against the rest of the city.
This week I was really pleased to be able to attend a film screening by Whitehawk After School Project (WASP), where a short film featuring young people and adults talking about what there is to do in the area and what they would like to see provided for young people.
It was interesting that whilst older people said there was not enough for young people to do, the young people themselves spoke about the activities on offer at the Youth Centre and at the Crew Club. There was also an exhibition of photographs taken by the young people which were excellent, and many activities on including a climbing wall.
The youth club for 9 - 13 year olds at the Whitehawk Youth Centre is free and operates every Tuesday and Thursday between 5 and 7.30pm during term times. For more information call 01273 674427. WASP is supported by The National Lottery and by Impact Initiatives.
