Vocality singing project

It is with great pleasure that we can announce the start of the Vocality singing project – a singing opportunity specially created for East Brighton ! And it’s free !


FIRST TASTER THIS THURSDAY 8TH DEC 7 - 8.30 PM AT ST CUTHMANS CHURCH

 Come and enjoy the benefits of community singing. It’s fun, exciting, healthy, sociable, creative and will lift your spirits like nothing else ! No experience needed - everyone welcome, from absolute beginners to experienced crooners. We’ll sing popular songs from the 40’s to 00’s, old & new favourites, plus inspiring music from around the world. Help us to choose the songs we sing ! There’s a programme of tasters over the next few weeks in Whitehawk and Woodingdean, then a 10 week course starting on Jan 19th.

terrence higgins trust event

THT launch event helping Brighton’s LGBT community get healthy

On Saturday 18th June, HIV and sexual health charity Terrence Higgins Trust (THT) is inviting members of Brighton & Hove’s lesbian, gay, bisexual and transsexual (LGBT) community to an event showcasing the range of services that can help improve their health and wellbeing. Taking place at Dorset Gardens Methodist Church between 11am and 4pm, ‘Healthy LGBT’ will provide information and support from local organisations on a range of health related issues, including mental health, nutrition and exercise.

Older Peoples Council Election is coming

The Brighton & Hove Older Peoples Council Election is coming The Older Peoples Council (OPC) was set up to make sure that older people in the city have a say in the services which affect them and the communities where they live. Nine older people will be elected for a four year term of office. The election will be by postal vote on 30 June 2011. You must be on the OPC electoral register to vote in the election. To be on the OPC electoral register you must be on the standard electoral register, a resident of Brighton & Hove, and 60 years of age or over. To check if you are already on the OPC register, telephone Brighton & Hove City Councils Electoral Services Office on 01273 291999. OPC registration forms are available in the city Libraries, from the Bus Pass counter in Priory House, or phone the OPC on 01273 295101. Please make sure your form is returned to the Electoral Services Office by 15 June 2011. See attatchments for more information
